Practice Therapy Dog
One of our most popular team members is Mr Oreo. This cute little fluff-ball works casually in our practice and is loved by everyone who meets him [most people think he’s a toy dog we have lying near our reception desk for our chiro kids to play with]. This intuitive little bloke has been providing emotional support and pet therapy to those who visit our clinic since early 2021. Our practice is all about ‘wellness’ and feeling good, so when we say, ‘pet therapy’, Oreo helps those visiting our practice [including the delivery people] feel a little less stressed, a little happier and a little bit more loved. His soft, gentle, and cuddly temperament has proven to assist with our chiro kids who are spectrum orientated, those that suffer anxiety related issues or our elderly patients who don’t always have strong social interactions.
Chiropractor Assistant
Originally from overseas [New Zealand], she has worked the ‘high seas’ as a top Beauty & Massage Therapist on some of the biggest cruise-liners and day spas and has now come to shore to call Mackay home. Carmyn joined our team in 2020 looking for a career change and even though she was new to our industry, her personal experience and knowledge of chiropractic care and holistic health and wellness is incredible. She has always loved customer service and not only is she compassionate to our client’s needs she also brings a soothing calmness to everyone she greets. If you see cute little touches around the practice like quotes on the mirrors, rest assured it’s Carmyn, she’s always wanting to brighten someone’s day. She is a self-confessed animal lover, enjoys exploring new places, loves meeting new people and is slowly adapting to our Australian sense of humour.

Ever known a person with a genuine heart of gold? Well, that is Beth.
Beth joined our team in 2019 after she relocated from Innisfail, Queensland to Mackay to begin her chiropractic studies at CQU – yep, she is our resident chiropractic student. Beth’s thoughtful and vibrant personality is something both clients and team mates alike look forward to when she walks through the doors. After working as a chiropractic assistant for over 2 years prior to joining our team, Beth was inspired to study chiropractic because of the amazing chiropractors she has been privileged to work with and seeing how they help make a difference in people’s lives. You might also see Beth in the treatment rooms alongside Rod, Marti and Jim observing and learning from time-to-time [we are determined to make sure she is going to be a great chiropractor]. But if she isn’t at work or studying, she’s normally baking or cooking up a storm with any extras usually brought in for the crew.

We always joke that ‘everyone needs a Jenny in their life’ and it is true when it comes to this gem. Jenny joined our team in 2016 after making a big career change from the corporate world to a career that better aligned with her health and wellness beliefs and provided a much better work/life balance for her and her family. Not only is Jenny loved by our clients for her genuine ability to make people feel warm and welcomed in our practice, but she is also our ray of sunshine with her infectious bubbly personality. With a passion for our team and practice, Jenny is the driving force for always making sure we are delivering the best care and service we can. Jenny is also Rod’s right-hand gal [or we like to call her Rod’s boss] and assists him with practice operations, marketing & communications and pretty much everything in between. See we told you everyone needs a Jenny.
Remedial Massage Therapist
Born in Bathurst, New South Wales but raised in Mackay, Jack loves the ability to positively impact those around him be it through his therapeutic work or just a general conversation. He specialises in therapeutic massage focusing on balancing the body and helping calm the nervous system, using various modalities into a unique style he has designed to individually suit the needs of his clients and achieve the best results. Jack has worked in the health and wellness industry for 5 years and completed his study and training with Evolve College in Brisbane, Queensland. After meeting Jack, you quickly discover his unique calming energy and his genuine passion for helping others. While he loves working on his golfing game [when he’s not in the practice], Jack also loves his music and even though there is a ‘T’ in Johnston, he still likes to consider himself an internationally recognised musician.
Chiropractor
Originally from Sydney [but now calls Mackay home], Marti completed his chiropractic study and training at Macquarie University and has been providing chiropractic care since 2002. While owning and operating successful practices in Southern Highlands and then Circular Quay, Marti [who also has a teaching background], started teaching Chiropractic Skills at the University of Central Queensland in Sydney and became passionate about teaching and inspiring next generation chiropractors. In 2016 Marti was offered a ‘sea change’ that could provide him better balance with his passion for treating clients and educating chiropractic students and moved to Mackay to not only join our team but take up a teaching scholar academic role with CQU as a Chiropractic Lecturer. Marti brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in varying chiropractic techniques, as well as soft tissue work and functional movement-based therapies. Being our resident ‘big-kid’, Marti loves to have a good laugh [they say laughter is the best medicine] and remind people how ‘awesome’ they are.
Visiting Chiropractor
Studied and trained at the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in the USA [the first chiropractic school in the world] and graduating in 1969, Jim brings a unique and innate myriad of techniques and experience and is highly regarded as one of the best. Jim has completely dedicated his life to providing chiropractic care and to this day is forever learning and evolving his techniques [‘you can never know everything and therefore you can never stop learning’]. Having successful practices all around the world and Australia, Jim now calls Cairns home. Jim is not only a mentor to our chiropractors and team, but he is also our locum and visits our practice 2-3 times a year seeing and treating clients. We feel very privileged to be able to work alongside Jim for so many years and his infectious, no-nonsense [but big heart] and colourful personality keeps everyone on their toes and in stitches of laughter.
Chiropractor + Principal
He is the one that started it all, our leader and boss-man. Rod has proudly been providing chiropractic care for the Mackay community since 2005. Born in France and raised in New Caledonia, Rod moved to Australia to study and train at the highly regarded Macquarie University in Sydney, but now calls Mackay home. His passion for health, fitness and nutrition really shows in his ability to holistically care for his clients. Rod is experienced in varying chiropractic techniques and his reputation for gentle, effective, and precision treatments is reflective of his long-term client base with many who have been in care with Rod for more than a decade. He has also done further studies in paediatrics and enjoys caring for mums pre/post-natal and of course, babies and kids. If Rod isn’t in the practice, you will usually find him training for triathlons, coaching junior soccer or snacking – he loves to snack.
