What is Remedial Massage?
Remedial massage involves the assessment, analysis and treatment of your body. The focus is on restoring the function of the body parts that are injured, restricted, painful or tight. Our process starts with a conversation about your concerned areas, your general health and lifestyle, followed by an assessment to determine what soft tissues are involved.
Based on this information your therapist will provide a treatment that aims to restore function, reduce pain, increase ease of movement, and restore balance to the body. In addition to massage techniques, your treatment might include different modalities like cupping, trigger point work or active and passive stretching.
Every body is unique and therefore our treatments are tailored to the individual. Remedial Massage is best for a wide range of concerns that affect muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, the nervous system as well as acute or chronic conditions like migraines, sporting injuries, anxiety and more.

What should I expect?
Initially your remedial massage therapist will get you to fill out a health history form and have a chat to you about why you are coming in for treatment. Based on your conversation, they will have a look at your posture, range of movements, flexibility, muscle strength and identify any underlying causes or possible conditions that could be contributing to your symptoms. They then formulate a treatment style specific to your needs.
Our remedial massage therapist aims to provide you with short-term relief for your current symptoms and then address the underlying causes to ensure long-term results. We understand everyone responds differently and prefers different pressures and some techniques work better on one person compared to another. We work hard to identify which remedial techniques/pressures work best for your body to cause a change/relief in your current symptoms and help fix the underlying causes. Communication is an important part of massage especially in your first few treatments and as our therapist is getting to know you and your body. We always advise to drink plenty of water or enjoy a long warm shower post your treatment to help flush out any toxins.
Our therapist generally offers 1-hour treatments but is always happy to work with clients and provide shorter and extended treatments upon request. For more information, pricing or to book an appointment please contact the practice on 4953 1622.
